Spring 2012

I had to laugh at our kitty.  She was sitting in the apple tree waiting for a bird to come along.  She was also knocking the blossoms off and then batting at them.

 We took our first hike of the season.  It was actually more like a nature walk in the mountains above our house.  We are hoping to go on many hikes this summer and plan to gradually work our way to the more difficult ones.  I think Thayne and I are the ones who have to work up to it!

Quinn's Big Week

Quinn is ready to go to school the day after breaking his elbow.  That darn sling was so annoying and didn't work very well.  We have given up on it.

 So Quinn broke his elbow on Monday and had a small eye surgery on Friday morning at Brigham Hospital.  here are the doctor and nurse right before he went into surgery.  He was so spoiled and had a great time.  He got a quilt, coloring book and crayons, bubbles, socks and 4 popsicles.  He loved it all.

All ready to go home with all his treasures.

Quinn fell off the monkey bars at the neighbor's house today.  I was standing right there watching him too!  He cried really hard and so I took him right to the doctor's office.  They aren't sure yet if it's broken but he will see the orthopedic surgeon next week.  This is our first broken bone and we have a 13 yr. old, so we feel pretty good about that.

 We always enjoy coloring Easter eggs.

 Easter Sunday evening I gave the kids each a styrofoam airplane and let them color them with markers.  Then we went to the park to fly them.  All was going well until Collin and Hannah collided running down the hill.  There were lots of grass stains and tears and a burn scab torn off Hannah's arm.  So the fun outing ended up not being so fun.  Maybe next time...

Funny

I think its funny that I never changed my summer pictures on the sides of my blog.  It's like winter never came!  I am getting excited to start growing things in the yard again.  Collin planted our peas and radishes two weeks ago and I have bought several packets of seeds.  Thayne needs to help me install the drip watering system in our garden and then we can plant more stuff.  It worked really well last year.  So far I have bought beans, soybeans, giant sunflowers and zinnia seeds.  Oh, and popcorn is popping on my apricot tree :)  Love this time of year when everything comes alive again.

Travel Day

At school the kids could dress up like somewhere they would like to go.  Hannah decided to dress up like a Hawaiian girl and we put her hair in a circle french braid.  Too bad the picture doesn't really show it.

Blue and Gold Banquet

I am now officially back into cub scouting.  We attended the Blue and Gold Banquet with Simon.  It was a Luau theme.  The boys had made leis and grass skirts at their den meetings prior to this evening.  We had Hawaiian haystacks and brownies and then watched the boys do a hula dance for us.  I looked at the 8 boys on stage and realized Simon was missing.  He is a shy one and was hiding in the curtains.  He didn't participate in any of the games either.  Oh well..it will come with time!
